Meet Dr. Shane Citron

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
Dr. Shane Citron was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario and completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto. Dr. Citron graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry in 1998 with honours and was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honour Society.
Upon graduation, Dr. Citron entered a six-year Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical training program at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan during which he obtained his Medical Degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Citron is Board Certified in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in the United States and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
During his residency training, Dr. Citron developed extensive knowledge and surgical acumen in the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery encompassing dentoalveolar surgery and extractions, dental implants, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma, benign and malignant oral pathology, facial reconstructive surgery and surgical management of medically compromised patients. In addition, Dr. Citron completed several months of dedicated general anesthesia training in both adult and pediatric patients.
Prior to joining Newmarket Dental Specialists and for several years, Dr. Citron held the position of Section Chief of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery & Hospital Dentistry at Elliot Health System, a Level II Trauma Center in Manchester, New Hampshire. As a former Chair of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Detroit Mercy, Dr. Citron has had the privilege of teaching and mentoring dental students and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical residents throughout his career. Dr. Citron has served as a Clinical Instructor and Course Director at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry and as an Assistant Clinical Instructor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Citron is a proud member of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Canadian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Royal College of Dentists of Canada and the prestigious, Chalmers J. Lyons Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
